Ruwido's VEXO: The Apple iTV remote

Tools

After hearing some chatter about the Ruwido VEXO remote control being a doppelganger of Apple’s forthcoming iTV’s remote control, I found an industry source who confirmed that Apple’s iTV remote will look just like this:

(pic of the front view below)

VEXO is an echo of previous and current Apple products: stylish innovation with a minimalist design (not a single button) that puts it far outside the confines of your everyday remote control. Ruwido is in fact the leader of remote control manufacturers in Europe, but most of their products are unremarkable. The VEXO stands out.

VEXO is a universal remote that has been designed to control upwards of 16 devices. VEXO offers a silver-colored key-coin made of aluminum, set in black, glossy polycarbonate glass—instead of the usual chaos of buttons. Rotating and pressing operations controlled by the thumb take care of all the actions. The back-lit display makes its self-sufficient in the dark. VEXO is marketed by stressing its “simplexity” a quality surely appropriate for any Apple-branded product. A complex, intelligent technology wrapped in the simplest of UI’s and casing.

VEXO, according to Ruwido, is a platform developed in anticipation of the interactive and Internet-based applications and devices of the future, which both apply to Apple’s iTV product.

I don't really like this new remote. It makes it more complicated to enter television numbers, because you have to scroll to each. That, and it seems fairly function-less. Thanks, but I'll stick with my old remote.
wrong, Steve Jobs only said the remote will look like the current remote shipping with new macs listen and watch it on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTbdI2JYDEo
Ugly... there better be a clean white version.
Agreed -- the current front row remote is much better!
Sorry, I don't buy it. That is a terrible looking remote. I give Apple more credit that that thing deserves. That looks like it was designed 10 years ago. I'm pretty sure the new remote will look like the Front Row remote.
This is SO not an Apple designed remote control. It does not have any of the hallmarks of a Jonathan Ives designed product. And do you honestly think Apple (which makes it's bread and butter designing and selling hardware) is going to plunk their logo on something that another company could use as their own? This entire article is nonsense.
Tiger Electronics called. They want their screen back.
fake
I call shenanigans on that... I don't know who you're getting your info from, but you may want to ask them if the have ever actually SEEN and Apple product before, because that may even be too hideous to be a Microsoft product.
Hmm.. I'm finding it hard to believe that apple would pick up this product. Reasons: #1) Apple designs better UI, (note the volume display on the LCD, this is not how you do volume UI) #2) Metal and black don't "work" tgether, I dont see this used on any existing apple hardware, doesn't mean that it cant be done. #3) Too many options. If my mum feels scared from the choices, its not an apple product. But, Apple made their design rules, so they can break their design rules. I know another company made the hardware (like most other apple products), but I think this is not in the "apple head space".
Uhm, last time I checked, the Apple ipod and the ipod nano both featured black plastic fronts, and metal on the back. people cover them with cases, but that doesn't change the fact that there is some metal on black going on under those covers.
I would think that the Apple remote would be much more stylist than this. -------------- www.mostofmymac.com
Damn this remote is hideous. Apple is 'too cool' and needs to quit with its BS easy use stuff. Make something practical, not 'cute' I would never buy this. Of course I have never bought anything apple. They focus on making things cute rather than straightforward, other than the ipod that is.
No way. First, Apple won't integrate a small screen on the remote. They don't need to because, unlike other manufacturers, they realized that the best screen is that of your own monitor. Just look at Front Row. Second, iTV is being developed to promote Apple's digital content. It's the reason why Apple hasn't fully integrated a radio into the iPod, when it'd be so easy to. Why help radio stations or tv channels when Apple can sell the content straight to you instead?
hahaha geeze they can never get the fakes right. lame. old lcd technology? as long as a fishing pole? totally lame
I hope my Harmony works with the iTV.
I too am not buying this at all! Apple would be taking a 10 year leap backwards to release a POS like this for something so anticipated as the iTV ... If Apple really wanted to lock in the retail success of the new wireless touchscreen ipod, why not make it double as the iTV's remote? Hmmmm ... --------------- www.hotipodnews.com
Bad fake…
Oh please! It says 'CD' on it, would it not say iTunes? Pathetic.
it doesn't look apple like, i think apple will create una. that will be the only remote that works with everything in your home entermant sytem flawlessly and it won't look like that
Why make another remote?? Steve Jobs used the Apple remote with iTV and it worked...
I love this remote! Does it come in brown?
Why are so many people calling this a photoshop fake? I actually read the article, and he never says this is the iTV remote. The remote pictured is the Ruwido VEXO. The writer is saying that the iTV remote is going to be designed after it. He's not saying that this is an actual picture of THE iTV remote, he's saying that this is the design that it will use. Whether or not it's true, that remains to be seen. But even so, it's not a photoshop fake.
This looks more like an Bang & Olufsen remote. I'm sorry, but this isn't Apple to me.
Somewhere there is an Apple designer looking for a new job... What a piece of crap, I feel less creative having just looked it! Do you really think Apple could put there logo on this? I think NOT!
Extreemly unfriendly remote control designed by engineers that don't have any idea how a consumer will navigate through the evening. So not Apple, too ugly and who realy wants this?? Nobody I guess (I hope).
didn't steve jobs say that the front row remote would be itv. Its not apple style @ all. Very dissapointing apple
I don't believe it. What does it have a screen for? You have hooked this thing up to your 50 inch TV! THAT is your screen. I think it needs 1-0 and a track wheel and that is it. For those not smart enought to figure this out. Press menu, it appears on your TV via iTV, navigate to "DVD", "Music" or "SAT" etc., select it and iTV sends out a signal to the REMOTE, which then relays it to the right components. Think out of the box and you will come up with a remote that not only sends a signal, it receives too. I don't know about you, but I don't want to navigate around on a remote's screen, I want it up on my dang TV, Big and beautiful.
In the end, nobody really knows, until Apple officially presents their new itv remote! It could be the vexo... or something else!
vexo.ruwido.com is the official website of the Vexo remote
posted link didn't work: http://vexo.ruwido.com
Has anbody noticed VCR on remote? Who the hell produces VCR anymore. I don't think Steve Jobs will support a device that is not produced anymore. Totally Fake!!!
Looking at the remote that the Apple TV has now it does share some similarities with this remote. Its just half the size, a white/grey and looks better. ------------ Chris Tew Web TV Wire
