Top video VC fund raisers through August 2007

FierceIPTV presents the top venture cap fund raisers in the online video space, as compiled from PE Week and VentureBeat among other sources. The top five include a YouTube challenger in Paris, two California video distributors and two from China. Runners-up are listed below, as are companies in the online video distribution support space.

Dailymotion SA
Two-year-old Paris video aggregator Dailymotion SA secured $34 million in venture cap in May from Advent Venture Partners LLP of London and AGF Private Equity of Paris. Dailymotion raised about $9.5 million last year from Atlas Venture and Paris-based Partech International.

$30 million
Metacafe
Launched in 2003 and based in Palo Alto, Calif., MetaCafe was the seventh most visited video site in July and August [0]. It received $30 million in a second round of funding in August.

$26 million
Veoh
The San Diego video-sharing site started by former Disney executive Michael Eisner, raised $26 million in a second round of funding in June, led by Highland Capital Partners and DAG Ventures; Accel Partners and Benchmark Capital also contributed. The business received $15 million in its first round. Veoh [0] was the ninth most visited video site in August [0].

$23.5 million
UUSee
UUSee, a Chinese video distribution Website, raised $23.5 million in funding, with Draper Fisher Jurvetson and Highland Capital leading, and Steamboat contributing, in March.

$18 million
Toudou
Chinese online video-sharing site Toudou.com raised $18 million from JAFCO in April.
