eBook: The Promise and Problems of TV Everywhere

Online viewing of TV programming is a growing consumer habit threatening to become a disruptive market force for TV service providers, including cable TV firms, telcos and satellite TV providers. As is the case with many disruptive forces, it also presents a great opportunity for service providers to extend their advanced TV services onto the Web to better facilitate the type of on-demand, time-shifted and place shifted programming environments that their customers increasingly desire. To do so, they will have to master authentication and authorization procedures to help them manage quality of service and customer expectations in this newly-complex environment.
