Alcatel-Lucent made good on reports from earlier this week that it would announce a major play for cable TV business. At The Cable Show in Washington, D.C., the traditional telco vendor said its Interactive Media Manager now supports the Enhanced Binary Interchange Format and tru2way.

Alcatel-Lucent is working according to Canoe Ventures specifications and is focusing on creating templates for creating and testing EBIF and tru2way applications. Some of the vendor's cable-related expertise came through the acquisition of Tamblin back in 2007.
