Arris has big plans for Digeo assets

Arris Group this week moved to acquire Digeo, a company perhaps best known for having the backing of Paul Allen. Digeo has dabbled in DVR and interactive programming guide technology, but also last year underwent a major reorganization. That's something that it has in common with Arris, which also dealt with major restructuring within the last two years after it acquired C-COR Systems. Now, Arris' new plans for Digeo include the intent to develop multimedia home gateways, according to Light Reading's Cable Digital News.

At times in the last few years, Arris Group seemed poised for major acquisition binges that could put it in the ranks of larger TV gear vendors like Cisco Systems and Motorola. In fact, Arris was in the running to acquire Tandberg TV before vendor giant Ericsson eventually bought that company. Could the acquisition story line be picking up again?
