The latest addition to Verizon Communications' FiOS TV Widget Bazaar is a photo viewing and sharing widget connected to the Kodak Gallery online digital photo service (users have to be registered with the Kodak service). FiOS TV customer can use their remote controls to access the on-screen Kodak Gallery icon. According to a post at InteractiveTV Today, Verizon has seen many of its customers use the FiOS TV Facebook widget to view photos, and that probably made the new Kodak widget a logical move.

The Verizon move comes just days after AT&T announced a U-verse TV photo-sharing service, and as Multichannel News pointed out this week, cable TV companies already offer similar capabilities. The battle of the TV-based photo apps has begun.

Meanwhile, Verizon also has teamed with ESPN to offer a fantasy football widget, another development that follows a similar move by AT&T last year.
