Cable ONE will use TiVo to boost its IP-connected experience
Cable ONE, the nation's 10th largest MSO with 740,000 customers in 19 states, will use TiVo (Nasdaq: TIVO) software to expand its whole-home and multi-screen IP connectivity offerings, the two companies announced today in a press release.
According to the terms of the deal, Cable ONE will use TiVo as its exclusive software provider for all the new DVRs it purchases and will offer TiVo's user experience and next-generation video services beginning with the company's whole-home and multi-screen products.
"The way our subscribers consume video entertainment is rapidly changing and we focused on a solution that will put an extensive amount of content choice right at the viewers' fingertips in a way that is easy to find and watch--on any screen," Jerry McKenna, senior vice president and chief sales and market officer at Cable ONE, said. "Collaborating with TiVo allows us to quickly implement a cost-effective and market-tested offering that immediately gives our subscribers access to the best TV experience on any screen in the home."
The "any screen" part is key to the deal because "TiVo's multiplatform solution allows Cable ONE to simultaneously deliver existing QAM linear and next-generation IP on demand video experiences," McKenna continued.
Cable ONE, in this regard, is a kindred spirit with TiVo, said David Sandford, vice president and general manager of TiVo's service provider business.
"Like many operators around the globe that find themselves immersed in a fiercely competitive market, Cable ONE understands the necessity to provide a compelling and modernized television viewing experience that will delight their customers," Sandford said.
TiVo will be part of the Cable ONE offering in the first half of next year, with plans for it to be available throughout the operator's footprint.
