Cable TV player Cablevision Systems has drawn scrutiny twice within the last week over two separate situations in which its programming practices were alleged to be unfair to its telco TV competitors.

First, Verizon Communications filed a program access complaint with the Federal Communications Commission complaining that Cablevision should make high-definition programming from its own Madison Square Garden TV network available to the telco for its FiOS TV service. Verizon currently only has access to the standard-def version of the channel, and Cablevision argued that it's not legally required to give anyone access to HD versions of its local channels.

Separately, the Connecticut Attorney General has asked the FCC to look into an exclusive programming deal between Cablevision and MSNBC, as the AG says it is anti-competitive and unfair, in particular to AT&T's U-verse.
