ESPN has hit the iPad with a TV Everywhere app that (1) isn't going to battle with the content owner (itself); and (2), delivers exactly what you'd hope a TV Everywhere app from ESPN would deliver, plenty of live sports content.

espn watchtv appThe sports broadcaster last week rolled out "Watch ESPN," a free iOS app that works on Apple's (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad, iPhone and iPod touch.

ESPN says almost all of its content (with the exception of Monday Night Football) will be available live, as long as you're a subscriber to pay-TV providers Time Warner Cable, Brighthouse TV or Verizon's FiOS TV service, so it's pretty limited at the moment.

Right now, no app for Android, although the company says that's coming eventually. Also absent right now: advertising. During commercial breaks, iPad users currently see a graphic until action resumes. The broadcaster says it'll start streaming targeted ads along with its programming in August.
