The IBC2008 trade show is set to kick off in Amsterdam this Friday, and vendors are lining up new product announcements and technology demonstrations. Harmonic will display a line of video on-demand servers that use flash memory at the event, and the company also will lead a multi-vendor demonstration of video content delivery over the Internet to multiple kinds of devices. Meanwhile, Ericsson and its Tandberg subsidiary will showcase network PVR technology, compression and transcoding, and they will also discuss targeted advertising efforts. Targeted advertising and other personalization capabilities likely will be major themes at the event.
