Metric: 103M IPTV subs by '11

A recent report from iSuppli predicts that the total number of worldwide IPTV subscribers will total 103 million in 2011, which means the industry is growing at a compound annual growth rate of 92.5 percent. iSuppli puts the worldwide total of IPTV subscribers at the end of 2006 at 3.9 million. The figures translate into a $39.1 billion industry (by revenues), which is up by a factor of 40 from $960.5 million in revenues last year. Article

Another report from Infonetics found that the worldwide IPTV equipment manufacturer revenue spiked 150 percent in 2006, easily passing the $1 billion mark. That market is expected to continue to grow, but at a more moderate pace in the years ahead, possibly doubling or tripling before 2010. Yet another recent report, this one from Screen Digest, indicates that subscriptions to IPTV service across Europe will rise from 2.9 million in 2006 to 5.6 million in 2007. Article
