MRG releases IPTV Leaders report

MRG Research has released its Global IPTV Market Leaders report, which the firm says "tracks the top 100 IPTV vendors in 24 regional sub-segments based on the installed base of six video systems products in more than 700 IPTV Operations." IPTV has had its ups and down across the world recently, making great progress in North America, while witnessing the shut-down of Tiscali's IPTV service in Italy.

You might be surprised to learn (or at least I was surprised) that more than 35 new IPTV trials and deployment took flight within the last six months throughout the world. Among vendors, MRG notes that Microsoft has picked up steam in the middleware and content protection segments, though Verimatrix is still tops in the latter category. Also, numerous vendors still are competing for attention in the video-on-demand, middleware and set-top box sectors.
