NAB: Level 3 adds new managed video network service

Tools

LAS VEGAS - Level 3 Communications announced that it is delivering a new managed video service (MVNS). Fox Entertainment Group is the first customer and has 35 locations hooked up, including its headquarters in New York City.

MVNS is a flexible managed video offering for broadcasts, enabling both point-to-point and point-to-multipoint broadcast video delivery between customer locations over Level 3's network. The customized MVNS network solution is allowing Fox to deliver HD TV programming among Fox's various locations throughout the country, so stations can get both live video and pre-recorded content with just a few mouse clicks over a secure VPN.

The new network will ultimately enable Fox locations to access the vast archives of footage the stations have accumulated over the years, allowing stations to tap into stock footage from other stations with a simple web browser interface.
