Nagravision, primarily know for conditional access technology for IPTV networks, has announced a licensing agreement with semiconductor giant Intel, under which Nagravision's On-Chip Security solution will be integrated with Intel's media processors for consumer electronics products. CED reports that the deal will allow Intel customers who manufacture consumer electronics gear to make IPTV products and hybrid video products such as set-top boxes. The agreement seems like another nod to the growing importance of conditional access systems from companies like Nagravision, Widevine and Verimatrix to protect the broadening variety of content applications and the user information exchanged as they are accessed.
