Canadian telco TELUS has tapped Nortel to outfit it with an end-to-end systems integration for the second phase of its IPTV effort that looks to fold IMS, VoIP and multimedia into the IPTV offering. Telus' current IPTV system is based on Alcatel technology, but without the Microsoft middleware that most of the other big Alcatel IPTV deployments use. Minerva will chip in the middleware software for the Nortel deployment at Telus, and Nortel says much of the infrastructure gear they aim to provide to Telus is still a work-in-progress. First things first: the systems integration services. The companies would not disclose the set-top box or head-end suppliers for this second IPTV deployment for the SP.
