The National Rural Telecommunications Cooperative (NRTC) announced Tuesday that it will freeze rates for its IPTV Expanded Basic programming package at 2008 levels. A statement from NRTC President and CEO Bob Phillips read: "NRTC strongly believes in the market opportunity for IPTV in rural America and its long-term viability. In tough economic times, we want to help rural telcos keep programming rates steady for consumers."

The NRTC late last year saw IPTV wholesale partner SES Americom announce its withdrawal of its IP-Prime service from the sector due to poor market conditions.
