France Telecom's Orange reportedly is considering the possible acquisition of some of the assets of controversial U.K. video-on-demand player Project Kangaroo. Though Orange has been promising to offer IPTV service in the U.K. for some time, the Guardian and other outlets report that Orange would be more likely to apply Kangaroo's technology in its existing IPTV markets elsewhere in Europe.

Kangaroo joint venture partners ITV, the BBC and Channel 4 reportedly have been looking to sell out of the project after it was blocked earlier this year by U.K. regulators who heeded the complaints of BT and others who claimed that the effort would monopolize the U.K. TV service market with exclusive rights to some content.
