Q3 telco TV subscriber numbers

So far, the third quarter is proving to be a dose of hard reality for U.S. telco TV providers. Subscriber growth continues at the biggest telcos, AT&T and Verizon Communications, but the pace has slowed since a robust second quarter, suggesting the initial growth spurt in this young market may be coming to an end. Still, on a global basis, telco TV remains an area of measurable subscriber gains.

Here's a look at Q3 telco TV subscriber numbers around the world:

> AT&T added 240,00 U-verse IPTV subscribers in Q3 to reach about 1.7 million total.

> Verizon Communications added 191,000 FiOS TV subscribers for about 2.7 million total.

> TeliaSonera brought in an additional 109,000 TV customers, 29,000 of them on IPTV service, and has nearly 740,000 TV subs total.

> KPN increased its TV subscribers take by about 38,000 customers in Q3, and now has roughly 924,000 total.

> China Telecom unit Shanghai Telecom recently surpassed 850,000 IPTV subscribers total.

> The total IPTV market in Korea roughly doubled in Q3 from about 500,000 subs to 1 million, lass than a year after initial launches.

> Belgium's Belgacom gained 75,000 TV customers in Q3 to reach 663,000 overall.

> Broadband TV News: Telekomunikacja Polska of Poland had 283,000 TV subscribers via IPTV and DTH at the end of Q3.

> France Telecom's Orange had more than 2.5 million pay TV subs in France and about 2.9 million throughout Europe at the end of Q3.

> Croatia's T-Hrvatski Telekom added almost 20,000 IPTV subscribers in Q3 to reach about 190,000 overall.

> Consolidated Communications added 1,800 IPTV customers during the third quarter to surpass 21,500 overall.

> Chile's Telefonica del Sur now has about 25,000 IPTV customers.

> Germany's Deutsche Telekom now has an IPTV subscriber base of 885,000.
