Sigma Designs posts net loss

Tools

IPTV and home networking chipmaker Sigma Designs reported a third-quarter net loss of $2.3 million that missed expectations, causing its stock to take a double-digit percent hit earlier Friday. Quarterly revenue was down about 24 percent to $35.5 million.

The generally softer IPTV market of the last year or so could be to blamed though IPTV market activity has appeared to be up recently. Not long ago, Sigma also acquired home networking chip vendor CopperGate Communications, which should enhance its market opportunity in that burgeoning sector.
