Comcast Media Center this week launches its HITS Broadband service to enable cable operators to offer IP connectivity using Comcast's fiber network. This offers cable companies looking to offer IP connectivity a cost-effective alternative. "This is becoming increasingly important as the industry moves toward an IP-based operating environment," CMC chief operating officer Gary Traver said.
