Market research firm In-Stat this week said that almost 37 percent of broadband households in North America are "extremely or very interested" in viewing over-the-top video content on TVs in the their homes. In-Stat also forecasts that by 2013, almost 40 percent of the digital TVs shipped will have the ability to connect to the Internet.

Last year, there were five broadband households worldwide for every Internet-enabled consumer electronics device, but by 2013, this ratio will be 2:1, In-Stat said.
