AT&T has become the latest TV service provider to offer at least 100 high-definition TV channels in every market it serves nationwide. The telco giant joins Verizon Communications, and satellite TV providers DirecTV and Dish Network among the other companies that have reached that distinction. Several cable TV companies have hit the century mark in at least a few markets.

AT&T's U-verse TV offering has one service package with HD included in the package price, but an HD subscription costs $10 per month when matched with other programming packages. HD continues to be a major front for competition between telco TV, cable TV and satellite TV players. However, one could argue that AT&T focused on another competitive differentiator--whole-home DVR service--while other companies have been more intent on fighting the HD battle.
