AT&T this week launched an expanded, customizable "My Multiview" app, which gives U-verse customers the ability to watch up to four My Multiview appchannels at once, and also allows them to create a group of up to 55 favorite channels.

The app, which is free to U-verse subscribers, originally was launched in September, and had pre-configured groupings of channels in the sports, news and kids genre. AT&T also has offered a mosaic screen in conjunction with several major sporting events, most recently the Masters golf tournament and the FIFA World Cup.

The new mosaic app is all about customization. Users can use My Multiview to quickly surf the picture-in-picture screens for their favorite shows without having to wade through a tedious program guide. My Multiview leverages the flexibility of IPTV, and is a feature no other cable or satellite operator currently is offering.

Every U-verse receiver in the home can use the app, allowing individual family members to create and save personal preferences. The app is accessed via the remote. The app is rolling out on a market-by-market basis to all U-verse TV customers at no extra charge.

AT&T has also introduced an offer that gives new U-verse TV customers a $25 monthly discount on U-verse TV packages for six months. Under the new offer, popular U-verse TV packages with a DVR start as low as $29 a month, and customers who take advantage of U-verse Choice bundles receive even more monthly savings.
