France's Thomson, which has been a force in the international IPTV sector (though arguably not in the U.S., not that the U.S. is a make-or-break market to anyone right now), is undergoing a strategic revamp and restructuring of its balance sheet, according to Thomson CEO Frederic Rose. More details are expected to become known when the company, a vendor to France Telecom among others, reports its 2008 financial results on March 10.

However, what is known already is that Thomson, which is among just a few vendors addressing both IPTV network technology and overall aspects of video production, plans to sell its California-based Grass Valley broadcast equipment unit and other assets.
