Tiscali U.K. content exec departs

Carphone Warehouse has announced that Jonathan Sykes, managing director of content strategy at HomeChoice--which is part of Tiscali U.K. IPTV service acquired by Carphone Warehouse this year--has left his job. Reports in MediaWeek and elsewhere suggested Sykes did not necessarily leave to pursue another job.

Sykes was a satellite TV and cable TV executive before joining HomeChoice, which itself was acquired by Tiscali in 2006. Tiscali was unable to hit its subscriber goals for its U.K. TV service--a problem it also had with a similar service in its home region of Italy before shutting that offering down. However, since Carphone Warehouse took over, there has been speculation that the new owner would try to expand the service.
