Trend: Content acquisition woes for IPTV providers

Content owners and the content world in general are getting increasingly frustrated with telco companies and other technology companies. While both operate their businesses on the basis of creating, owning and licensing intellectual property, they can't seem to make it work. European start-ups are suffering from restrictive EU legislation and not having the right to talk to rights holders, not to mention ink deals with them. At the same time, content owners are fed up with business development executives who are asking the same questions and stubbornly refusing to try to understand and meet their concerns. At the end of the day, the conflict merely empowers smaller companies, and it seems a young ecosystem of IPTV-friendly content suppliers is taking root.
