Cable TV companies are pushing broadband beyond 100 Mbps, and meanwhile, AT&T said it will provide a free upgrade for all of its top-speed tier broadband customers to... 12 Mbps (from 10 Mbps). At least AT&T is also preparing U-verse TV upgrades and new features to keep customers happy.

The telco is starting to support more flexible scheduling and management of Total Home DVR recordings from multiple U-verse receivers with a home, rather than just the primary DVR receiver. AT&T also is working on an improved Web-based DVR management interface through Yahoo! that will have better search functionality and other features. The company also has added a video-on-demand recommendation engine in some markets.
