Verizon furthers FiOS TV-mobile phone integration

Verizon Communications is set to roll out a feature for FiOS TV allowing Verizon Wireless WiFi-enabled mobile phones to serve as TV remote control devices, Dow Jones Newswires reported. The capability is the sort that many service providers are exploring, and follows on the increasingly available function of using mobile phones to schedule DVR recordings.

The report said Verizon also announced a FiOS TV service, the latest in a string of recent upgrades, that supports a recommendation engine for on-demand video, more TV widgets and other capabilities.
