Verizon Communications is now offering a quadruple play service bundle of TV, broadband Internet, wireless service and home phone service. The move comes ahead of a planned quad play service from cable TV player Cox Communications, and after AT&T has tested the quad play waters with a bundle that includes DirecTV. Verizon's approach allows for either DirecTV or FiOS TV service. In any case, it looks like quad play competition may finally be heating up.

The offering--because it involves Verizon residential phone service--is focused on the carrier's traditional Northeast and Mid-Atlantic markets. However, the telco also offers service bundles that don't include the landline phone connection. Verizon is claiming that consumers can save up to $179 is they sign up for one of the company's quad play bundles.
