Verizon offers NFL Sunday Ticket deal

Tools

Verizon Communications is looking to combat DSL customer defections with new incentive-laden service bundles combining DSL Internet access, DirecTV HD DVR Plus and even voice calling. One major incentive is what Verizon has termed "free" NFL Sunday Ticket via DirecTV. The description of the popular football programming as free appears to be a point of debate between partners Verizon and DirecTV. The satellite TV provider said after the Verizon offer came out that subscribers actually will pay for NFL Sunday Ticket as part of the bundle.

Sounds like a confusing situation, but an attractive service promotion. Satellite TV companies and telcos have been comfortable bedfellows against cable TV firms for years, but perhaps DirecTV doesn't want its partner's offerings too sound attractive while its other customers pay a premium.
