Verizon's FiOS TV service completed its three-peat for customer satisfaction, being named "Highest in Residential Television Service Satisfaction in the East Region" in the J.D. Power and Associates 2010 Residential Television Service Satisfaction Study.

"For three years straight, Verizon has outperformed cable in this study," said Chris Creager, Verizon president for the East Coast region. "FiOS TV is recognized by our customers as having the hands-down greatest picture quality, technology and features, and it's a value that others just can't match."

Verizon's FiOS topped nine cable and satellite TV providers in the East region-which includes Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Virginia, as well as Washington, D.C.

The company joined fellow telco AT&T in the honor; AT&T took best of show in the North Central, South and West regions.

Verizon has more than 3.2 million subscribers to its FiOS service, and added some 174,000 new subscribers in the second quarter. AT&T, which has 2.5 million subscribers to its U-verse IPTV service, also added subscribers in Q2, some 209,000.

Cable systems, during the same period, lost about 711,000 subscribers, the worst quarterly loss in history.
