Today we are pleased to announce our inaugural list of FierceIPTV's Fierce 15--the top emerging companies in the IPTV sector that will lay the cornerstones upon which the industry will be built.

We at FierceIPTV have evaluated numerous companies based on their innovation, potential for near-term revenue and competitive position. The companies featured in this issue are the picks of the litter--the 15 companies we believe hold the most promise to shape the IPTV industry in the year ahead.

This year's winners include companies that solve the problems facing the IPTV industry: a lack of truly complete “end-to-end” IPTV solutions, disappointing in-home distribution platforms and the content providers' worry that IP videos will end up pirated and on the Internet. Among the winners you'll find companies that enable targeted advertising, next-generation content navigation platforms, accelerated metadata tools and a wireless in-home distribution platform that makes installation easy.

You may also notice two companies from the Internet TV sector, which FierceIPTV believe should be counted among the IPTV elite. Internet TV and online video is a fast rising trend that will inevitable intersect and eventually merge with IPTV. It's important to track that trend from its very roots and these two companies will be integral to Internet TV's imminent success.

We have worked with these guys on a couple of IPTV deployments and I have always been very impressed with their product. It has proven to be bullet proof and they have great support.
Who are you talking about?
Minerva
I have been doing this a long time. We are working deals all over the world and these folks aren't the ones that keep popping up. This is a whos who of TV for the little guy. These are not the folks doing the big deal to be long term players. Nortel a juggernaught..um based upon the one deal they have won and a stock price that is a complete joke? Talk about a late to the party company. I guess you expect this from an inaugraul list. Entone and Widevine are the only two that make the cut a year from now. Maybe after you get a year under your belt you will learn who the players are.
If you think Ruckus will be irrelevant a year from now, you are crazy. Besides that, I think you are missing the point of the list. Isn't this about small and upcoming companies?
The list is of emerging companies, which is why they're all smaller.
